Bad Romance

A man named Modest (54 years old), using a dating site, calls a hooker to the room of a small hotel. Arriving at the meeting, a girl named Karina (24 y.o.) immediately after the first moment of acquaintance with the client realizes that Modest is a slow-witted and shy man. All her attempts to have sex or at least kiss with the customer are unsuccessful. This situation deeply shocks Karina, but still has hope to seduce the client and get him into bed. Finally, unable to deal with such pressure from Karina, Modest reveals the true purpose of their meeting. He is married and loves his wife, and he called Karina only for one purpose - to write a novel, the main character of which is a prostitute. He sees Karina as only a model, and a source of information.
This information shocks Karina even more. She simply can’t accept the idea that she is not wanted. After asking Modest for a glass of wine, Karina strips naked and gets into his bed. Modest still holds his masculine emotions and tries to talk to the girl, finding out that Karina has separated from her husband and is left alone with a small son.
Realizing that there will be no sex, the girl is going to leave. Modest, feeling guilty, offers to give Karina a ride home. During the ride in the pouring rain, Modest tells about himself, about his spouse, about his main tragedy in life - the absence of children. At some point, their whole dialog starts to resemble the meeting of two friends who have not seen each other for a long time and do not want to part again. Before she leaves, Karina asks Modest's permission to kiss him after all.
In the morning Karina is awakened by a phone call. It was Olga, Modest's wife, who was interested in how the meeting went. Karina tells the main customer about Modest's fidelity and vain doubts about her husband. Olga now is on vacation in Egypt, together with her young lover. At the end of the conversation, Olga decides to break up her relationship with her lover and return home as soon as possible. The same interior of the hotel room, where Karina woke up, is revealed to the viewer. A smiling Modest enters the room with a bowl filled with strawberries and lies down on the bed next to Karina. He asks a question that puts an end to the whole story: "What is your son's name?".

First to the dinner party comes the youngest, fourth wife Albina (23 y.o.) with whom Yosif parted six months ago. She was hoping for some kind of meeting-negotiation, but seeing the large number of glasses on the table realizes that they will not be alone.

With the words: "Ooh, are you two together again?", the woman goes straight to the table and reaches for the bottle. The intrigue grows when the elegantly dressed first wife Lilya (53 y.o.) enters the room. The women begin to realize that the former spouse has invited them on the occasion of some important event and eagerly await the arrival of the third wife Sonya, assuming that Yosif will announce what has happened only when everyone is together. The women ask Yosif for explanations.
The spouse convinces his former life partners that he invited them just for fun, as he has been living alone for a long time and misses them all. Women are still trying to dig to the truth and express their assumptions about the new 18-year-old spouse, severe depression, or fatal disease. Yosif denies everything. Periodically talks face to face with each of them discussing short philosophical issues and significant importance of each woman in his life. In the end, the culmination of the party is Yosif's answer to the question, "why he invited them here in this small room and not in his luxurious house left by his father" - "I lost the house... loosing in Pocker".
The women are shocked. Yosif confesses that he has nowhere to live and maybe one of them agrees to take him in. An argument starts between the wives, and they try to convince each other that no one needs Yosif now. The former spouse watching and listening to reproaches in his direction with tears in his eyes leaves the room. The women feeling their guilt are silent. Each of them is ready to take him back, but they cannot confess in front of each other. The first wife Lilya proposes to draw lots, as they can't leave Yosif to his fate and someone will have to bear this cross. Everyone agrees. Lilya becomes the winner, but Albina discovers her fraud, and the ex-wives decide to take the lot out of Yosif's hands. The women leave the room to look for their ex and discover him in the arms of a young maid.
